Dove Lake Viewing Shelter Wins National Award

Cumulus Studio is honoured to announce that the Dove Lake Viewing Shelter has been awarded the Australian Institute of Architects National Award for Public Architecture at the 2026 National Architecture Awards.

The project was recognised for its sensitive response to one of Tasmania's most iconic landscapes, creating a place of shelter and contemplation that enhances the visitor experience while respecting the fragile alpine environment.

Director Peter Walker said the award was a testament to the collaborative approach taken on the project, which involved close engagement with Tasmania Parks and Wildlife Service, Indigenous stakeholders, and the local community.

"We're incredibly proud of this project and what it represents – architecture that serves people while respecting and celebrating the natural environment," Mr Walker said.
